-2 1/2 Cups Cooked Macaroni
-6 Tablespoons Butter
-1/4 Cup Flour
-1 Teaspoon Salt
-1 Teaspoon Sugar
-2 Cups Milk
-8 Ounce Package American Cheese
-1 1/3 Cups Small Curd-Cottage Cheese
-2/3 Cup Sour Cream
-2 Cups (8 Ounces) Cheddar Cheese (Shredded Bag)
-Optional: 1 1/2 Cup Bread Crumbs
Directions
Cook Macaroni, then drain. Place in 2 1/2 quart baking dish. In medium saucepan, melt butter. Stir in flour, salt, and sugar until smooth (using medium-high heat). Gradually stir in milk. Bring to a boil. Cook until it is thickened. Reduce heat and stir in American cheese until fully melted. Remove from heat and add cottage cheese and sour cream. Pour over macaroni. Top with shredded cheese (and breadcrumbs if you chose to). Cover piece of tinfoil with PAM or Crisco Cooking Spray. Cover macaroni with tinfoil and bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
